December's Member of the Month


Our S.I.N. Member of the Month for December is Megan Papp! When Megan first starting you could tell she was nervous and she mostly kept herself. Fast forward 2 years, now Megan is a very active member! Since joining SIN she has participated in all of the Team Competitions (and crushes them!), attends After Darks and other gym events. Being a runner, SIN has made her faster and stronger in her races. As important as her accomplishments are to her, she is just as excited for others to reach their goals and is everyone’s biggest cheerleader! Thanks for your dedication to our SIN family Meg, we love having you. 🏋🏻‍♀️🔥💪🏻💪🏻❤️❤️


How long have you been coming to Strength in Numbers? I have been going to Strength in Numbers for 3ish years, I started going when I moved to Berlin.

Do you remember your first workout? Yes, my first workout I was so nervous to go so I convinced my mom to come with me (who also was super nervous, as neither of us did much other than cardio previous to starting) We walked in and it was Jamie’s first class back after having Mikayla and she made us feel so welcomed and introduced us to everyone in the gym and everyone was super friendly and we signed up right after! 😊

How would you describe your lifestyle before Strength in Numbers? How would you describe it now? Before going to SIN I was strictly a “runner”/ cardio person, I was always intimidated by the weight sections of the gym and had a pair of 5lb dumbbells at home that I used to do bicep curls with (when they were not being used as a doorstop and because I was unsure what else to do with them) I was constantly getting injured and PT’s and doctors kept telling me I needed to do more strength training so I started searching for a “boot camp” style class, I tried 5 other “boutique style” gyms that offered cross training classes. Not a single person talked to me at any of them and the coaches were not very accommodating, I gave them all a few tries but never felt the love and family atmosphere I felt instantly at SIN, I rarely made it past the free trial periods. I never believed you could get a good workout with weights before I started coming to the gym. When I first at SIN I couldn’t do a pushup, could barely do a negative pushup rarely picked up anything higher than a 15 pound weight and was constantly having to modify movements because I was not very strong. Now every week I surprise myself with the amount of weight I have been able to start doing in different exercises and how much stronger I have become. The gym has also helped me make some of my closest friends who I consider family now and helped me meet new people since I was newer to the area. I love everyone that goes to the gym and how accepting everyone is of me and my very awkward personality 😊

If you could design your perfect workout what would it be? I think that my perfect workout would include running (shocking I know😊) with some higher pace muscle movements. I do like doing heavy weight lifts as well but I think the HIIT style/station work is still my favorite. The station work rocks because you get to work with teams, no matter who you get on your team you always feel like you have been on a team together for years we all cheer each other on and help each other out if someone is struggling (another reason I love the gym!) ALSO it would include 0 burpees😊

What advice would you give to anyone thinking of starting at Strength in Numbers? Whenever someone asks me about the gym I could go on forever about it and beg them to try it. I have tried many “boutique style” gyms before and NONE were as welcoming and loving as this one. When I saw how well they treated my mom and I from day one I knew it was the gym for me (my mom would still be here too if she didn’t live so far) You can walk into a class and “see” people of all genders, strength levels, sizes and experience but not one person actually treats anyone differently based on those characteristics, we are all identical and have so much love for each other and struggle in our own ways through the workout while having fun and making relationships that change your life 😊 I love SIN and couldn’t imagine my life without it and the community!
